Ancestry.com and FTM2014

Ancestry.com and FTM2014

18 June 2014 at 11:54 am Eastern

From the best that I can tell, Ancestry.com is still having issues. From what I can tell, FTM2014, specifically, and probably other versions are impacted. You will see, or at least I am seeing, that I have No Internet Connection.

The folks at Family Tree Maker are aware of this issue and are working on it.

  1. Um ... did they bite off a bit more than they can chew with all their new acquisitions? That's got to put a strain on their server farms. Sure hope they can get up and stay up and soon.

  3. Thanks Russ,  Ancestry is basically up but I noticed my FTM2014 has no internet and I've been thinking it was my firewall.  ....:-)

  4. Thank You Russ, I just got my FTM2014, and thought it was something I was doing or not doing. I'm sure they are working hard to get everything going again. I'll just go watch some of your tutorials and HOA and try to be patient.

  6. The application on Ancestry the communicates with FTM2014 appears to be on it's way back up. It has been off line. It's not off line, as FTM2014 isn't giving the "Firewall" error message any longer, but the Places Workspace, the WebSearch Workspace, and online Help Center are not up yet.

I just checked (3:00am Eastern) so that should be good news. BUT we are still now able to access those workspaces from within Family Tree Maker. (probably ALL versions).

If I hear or see anything, I'll post an update.

  7. Russ is there any update from Ancestry about FTM2014 error 'not connected'? I am still having that problem.

From all that I can tell, the service that communicates with FTM is up, so you shouldn't be seeing a Not Connected nor Firewall messages, but the Places and Web Search workspaces aren't working, nor the Online Help Center, from within Family Tree Maker.

  10. 20 June 2014: 8:21pm Eastern -  update from Facebook:

"The team has been working on the FTM issues and we expect most, if not all, to be resolved within the next couple of hours. We ask for your patience for just a little while longer as we work to rollout these fixes and we will be updating you once the change has taken place and we have the ‘all clear’. More to follow."

It appears that FTM2014 and Ancestry.com are working again.

All if the issues that I was having are going.

Now back to my normally scheduled research time.

  14. I'm running Win 8.1 and FTM 2014. I can connect to Ancestry but I'm still getting a sync error.

  15. Kathleen Newbill Have you compacted and backed up you file? And are all of you able to use the online features?

  16. Yes, I did those things multiple times and followed every instruction I could find on sync issues before I found out that the recent attack had impacted the sync feature. It's two days later now than your question, and Ancestry on FB is just saying they think they may have it solved, but I still cant sync. I'm going to wait until EVERYONE agrees everything works before I try again.

I do think that the FTMM-3 issue has finally been resolved.

Please give it another try and let me know.

    Thank you,

    Russ

  18. Thanks. Russ. I've been in touch with Ancestry's customer service and they told me it looks like they are still having intermittent problems and to try again tomorrow. Also that they would keep me updated. I'll let you know how it goes and pass along any updates. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate you and Dear Myrtle and your service to the community.
