This is a revised video for:
Question from the Cousin Russ Community
Question: Is there a good query language in any tools where you can query your family tree in a more advanced way?
"Give me all people where you have descendants born before 1900 and I have no source connected to it from the Census 1900"
Thanks to reader Karen Jaquish for pointing out that I had removed too many people from my search.

Hi Russ.
Hi Russ....I was watching the discussion in DearMyrtle's HOA from early last week when you guys went 24 hours during the indexing event about the ways that images and sources are attached in different database programs.
I am curious in FTM how you and others in the community use the Fact called "Census". When I merge a census record from Ancestry.com into my FTM database it usually creates different facts for the different pieces of information found in the census. So I end up with a fact for "Residence", "Birth", "Race", "Sex", etc rather than one for "Census".
What is the advantage to including the "Census" Fact?
I am using FTM 2014 on Windows 8.
Thank you!

Hi Russ
Hi Russ,
I'm entering a person in my file who was never married and had no children. I saw a blog post you did back in May 2010 about how to enter both the "never married" and "no descendants" information using FTM 2010. Is this method still the best way to handle it, or is there a "new & improved" way with FTM 2014?
Thanks,
Karen

Russ Worthington If I remember correctly you live in New Jersey.
Russ Worthington If I remember correctly you live in New Jersey. I would like to know how to find a researcher to look for a will/probate record in New Jersey (probably Trenton). Should I contact a Genealogy Society, a Historical Society or maybe I should even post this to a different community. Any advice? Thanks.

Hi +Cousin Russ , I have had a very frustrating day. Am pretty green at using both the synch feature and Macs. I quickly wrote the following post and wondered if you, or any other community members can point out the blindingly obvious mistakes I must be making :)
Many thanks

Hey Cousin Russ, could you explain the differences between ResidenceFacts and Address Facts in FTM?
Hey Cousin Russ, could you explain the differences between Residence Facts and Address Facts in FTM? Should I enter both for each census record? I appreciate the help!

Question: Best practice gather information about a village or a city inFTM
Question: Best practice gather information about a village or a city in FTM
Have started to try out Evidentia and then you have something called subject which I understand can be a person, village or whatever you would like to gather information about.
If I e.g. find information about a house that more people live in. My understanding is that I in FTM create a fact Residency and that is connected to a person and I set the timeperiod that person lives in the house e.g.
Date 3 apr 1905 - 20 nov 1905
Location: Kräbäck, Österfärnebo, Sweden
If I have another person that lives in the same period I can link this fact to that person
I can also decide to append information about the village Kräbäck.... to this fact
But if I have people that live during a different timeperiod I need to create more facts and need to add information about Kräbäck to all persons fact....
Is that correct or do you have a better way of gather information about a village during a timeperiod.....

Hey Cousin Russ , when you use Evidentia to record information from acensus record, do you record a relationship...
Hey Cousin Russ , when you use Evidentia to record information from a census record, do you record a relationship claim between mother and child? For example, the census will often spell out the relationship of a child to the head of household (the father for example), but it doesn't really specify whether the mother listed is the birth mother of the child. I know in the 1930 census, it lists age of first marriage but that doesn't necessarily mean it was to that spouse. Thoughts?
