In honor of Memorial Day, here is how I created a list of men who may have served in the Civil War. The same technique can be used for other conflicts.
Thank you to ALL who served in any conflict.

Nice tip Russ, I have recently been making a list manually just by looking at my full list of names and birth dates looking for my Rev War potentials. Used your method and came up with a list of 72 potentials which I can use as a checklist to make positive or negative check marks notes against. I had previously identified 17 yes's and this will make it easier to make sure I don't miss a couple.

+Bruce Cortis,
ReplyDeleteGreat. Glad it helps. I have used it before for similar searches.
Would you reply with the date ranges you used? Others may be interested. You may note that I was a little broad in my age range, but that's OK.
Would also be interested in knowing how it worked out for you.
Good luck,
Russ
