Hi Russ, This was very informational! I use FTMM3, I couldn't find the way to mark an address private as you showed here in windows version. It looked like it was going to work similarly, until you got to the properties button, then there was no standard way (that I could find) to make all addresses private by default. If you know the way, when you get time could you please let me know? I did get all my place names cleaned up so they are much more organized. Thanks so much!
Elizabeth McMurrey - I will have to check FTMM-3 later, but if you click on Edit (menu below the Workspace buttons) you should see Manage Facts. Also, on an Address Fact there is an Options pull down menu. You should see it there.
Please let me know if you don't and I'll fire up my Mac to verify that.
I found the way to make an individual address private, but not the setting to make that default. No rush, whenever you get time, to take a look. I am probably missing something. Everything works per your instructions, until you get to the properties page, then it looks entirely different. Thanks again.
Elizabeth McMurrey Thank you for the update. I am not able to use the Edit, Manage Facts feature to mark the Address Fact as Private. I have reported this to Ancestry.com along with a couple of other differences that I hadn't remember seeing before. I almost had a Video to show how to do this, but it didn't work the way it should.
I'll let you know, probably with a FTMM-3 Video on this topic.
Is that ONE Place name, or a series of Place NAMES?
Seems to me that at least Augusta and Kennebec would resolve quickly. I am not familiar with Gardiner, Hallowell, and Waterville. But they should show up in the Search List. probably adding the County name.
Cousin Russ That is how it printed out on the census. I believe they were all wards of Augusta ranging from 1910 to 1923 each census listed them that way as one place. I am thinking I need to go back in to each census by year and check historical names. Gardiner and Hallowell are both historical names.

Thanks for looking into it.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth McMurrey - That feature isn't in FTMM-3 yet. The folks at Ancestry.com are aware of this.
