Russ, Have a question, was watching this vedio and am up to media notes and you brought up nameing individuals in a group photo now you where stating you would do this in notes but would that show up if you shared that photo or would you have to put that information in the description field for others to be able to identify with you the individuals?
Ok sirry about this but watching this video brought up another question, now when this tree is published and/or synced to AFT what notes are published or synced besides if you lock them for private?
DearMYRTLE is absolutely right. Private Notes, like a Privatized person, will NOT appear in the Ancestry Member Tree. That is exactly what I want. Those are MY notes. The FACTS are shared, except for the FACTS that I have marked private, like Address, SSDI information.
Printed Reports have the OPTION to include Private Notes in the Items to Include ICON, when it is available.
As I hope you took away from this, is that I only showed you how I use these notes fields.
I think my question to you is, What are you trying to do with that picture?
You said "if you shared that photo or would you have to put that information in the description field for others to be able to identify with you the individuals?'
Here is what I have done, to get someone to help me Identify who was in the picture. I just printed the picture on plain paper, with lots of white space so that someone else could identify the people. Then, take that information and enter that into Family Tree Maker.
I use the Book Feature, so when I include pictures in the book feature, I would have text for the names.
OR
Use a photo editing program what I type in the Names with the Photo BEFORE I put that picture into Family Tree Maker. Leaving some white space on somewhere on the image, like below the picture, where you can type that information there.
David Lee Archibald I thought of one other thing. CAPTIONs for those photos.
Here is the Caption for that house that I had in the video
129 Worthington Road, Exton, Pennsylvania
Now, you wouldn't know what that is but it is linked to the a PERSON or PERSONS in FTM2014 in the Person Links. NOT to a Fact. If I am lucky, I could have a series of homes where people lived.
Here is the caption on another picture. Its a family photo at an Anniversary.
Henry Russell and Louse Strode Worthington, Jr - 60th Anniversary in1999
But in the notes I detailed the people in that picture.
Here is the caption from another photo
Henry Russell and Mariella Cheyney Worthington 40th Wedding Anniversary in 1955

ReplyDeleteDavid Lee Archibald, my understanding that if the note or the fact (event) is locked, as indicated by the padlock, then that info doesn't sync.
ReplyDeleteBut Cousin Russ will surely chime in, to clarify for sure.

Yes it does. I knew about the book feature but have never used it so watching your video and asking these questions is really helping me.
ReplyDeleteGreat. I am glad they helped you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck,
