Thanks..informative. I'm really considering getting FTM. Thought I would start slowly with only my mother's line as my dad's line is french and I've got what I can for that line so far.
Question...I've found Zelotes Dickinson as head of household in all but one census...1850...where he is working as a laborer on someone else's farm in a different city, Candia, Rockingham, NH. with wife and 3 family members. The head of household in this case is Ephraim Davis with his wife. How would I record that on FTM to reflect the fact that Zelotes Dickinson was there?
I have several cases like this. I record just him and in the Citation just list him separately.
BUT, I do one more thing. I copy and paste any Transcription from that website for him, and put that in the Residence Fact NOTES. I have blogged about my use of Notes before.
I want to be able to view the Residence Fact NOTEs to see what the house hold was made up of, for that Census Record.
I will be blogging about one specific example for the pay off of doing that Copy / Paste. In this specific case, I could NOT find any Census Record, Federal or State, where the entire Family was together. There was always one or more children somewhere else.
Yes Russ, Thanks! I'll save this for when I start entering info into FTM. I'll definitely be following your FTM suggestions & hangouts to help me get started.

Hope that helped.
