I have started a community for my local genealogical society.

I have started a community for my local genealogical society. I would like to add some files (not photos), but I am not sure how to. Would I need to save the file on Google Drive and then create a link back to the community? Do people need to request permission to view the files individually, or can I create a special folder with blanket permission?

You'll have to verify this, but that link in your Community may be the permission that they need.

I haven't tried that, but I think that is how it will work.

  2. +Carmen Cross you can allow access to anyone who has the link that you put in the community and disable the resharing of the link. Then community members can either view, comment or edit that document.

  3. You need to make sure your Google Drive files are for "anyone who has the link" or "public" otherwise when a person clicks on the link you provide in the Community (or anywhere else for that matter), he will receive a message that he must ask permission to view the item.
