  1. Cousin Russ, I also have observed this change in hinting. This means for my process I have to go back to the original person, see if it already tells me that the record is saved to multiple people, or to follow the hint for the other person and double check to see if that hint is already actually attached.

This new hinting process throws in extra steps that I now need to be aware of. I appreciate you taking the time to post this video.

Have you noticed any duplication of facts to a person in the example you gave? Example: if you first merged the daughter's record to the 3 participants, then came back some days later to the father, saw his hint, then merged his hint about the daughter's birth. Would it duplicate that fact on the father's page? I haven't actually tested that out to see how both FTM and AMT look after merging on all three people, first all three people using daughter's record and then going to father and merging his hint and then going to the mother and merging her hint.

I was noticing last week on my FTM 2017--all up to the current OS and version of FTM--that my hints were not showing. I checked on all 6 of my trees with the same result. I went into tools > Options and UNchecked the boxes to show hints, closed FTM and rebooted, reopened FTM, still hints not showing. After watching your video I noticed that you display your tree in the pedigree view. I changed my view to pedigree view and now the hints are showing in both tree views and in the upper right corner of the person panel. I thought this interesting in how that display works. Somehow switching to pedigree view kicked in those hints.

  2. Susan Bleimehl The Pedigree View is where to see the hints. I do NOT use the Family View at all. Doesn't help me.

The duplicate Facts: you need to pay attention to your Accept, Alt Facts or Discard Fact options. When you have the choice to Accepts, Alt, or Discard a suggested Fact, You can ONLY see the Preferred Fact. So, if you have an ALT fact for that person, you can't see that you already have that ALT Fact. Besides, the Citation would go to the Preferred Fact and not the ALT Fact where it belongs. It's one of those clean up things, that I have to do.

  3. Cousin Russ Thanks for that reminder. Clean up-one of those things that I need to pay more attention to in more than just my genealogy. :)
